Rules

  1. The Sobriety Rocks Scholarship contest is open to any Kansas resident age 14-20 by April 15, 2010.
  2. All entrants must be amateur writers and artists. (This contest defines “amateur” as a songwriter who has never had a song published or received any songwriting-related royalties or advances, a writer who has never been paid for work published, an artist who has never been paid for work commissioned or created, etc.)
  3. Each entry (music, art or writing) submitted must be your original work.
  4. Contestants will be eliminated for false registration, making false claims or submitting non-original work(s).
  5. MUSIC: Use Music Entry Form. All songs (lyrics and score) must be between three and five minutes in length and submitted in mp3 format on CD. Please include a printed copy of lyrics as well.
  6. WRITING: Use Writing Entry Form.
  7. ART: Use Art Entry Form. Entrants should include name on back of the artwork. Entries will not be returned unless special arrangements are made to cover shipping. Entries will be saved for at least 3 months after winners are announced. Contact questions@sobrietyrocksks.net to make arrangements.
  8. PSA: Use PSA Entry Form. 30-second script and/or storyboard.
  9. Any winner under the age of 18 must provide the express written consent of a parent or legal guardian.
  10. The selection of contest winners by KDOT, its advertising agency and the contest judges is final.
  11. All scholarship prizes are non-transferable and void where prohibited by law.
  12. Scholarship prizes will be awarded in June, 2009.
  13. All contestants acknowledge, as a condition of entry, that KDOT and its advertising agency have a right to publicize, or broadcast the winners’ name, character, likeness, voice, or all other matters incidental thereto; to reprint the winning songs, lyrics, art, writing or parts thereof in promotional materials and in future advertising and promotional efforts by KDOT and its advertising agency.
  14. Winning this contest does not in any way guarantee that the winning contestants’ creative work will be published, recorded or used for any purpose by KDOT and its advertising agency.
  15. Entrants retain all publishing rights to their creative material.
  16. All entrants agree to allow KDOT and its advertising agency non-exclusive rights to hire songwriter(s) and professional musician(s) to copy, modify, record, duplicate, perform, distribute and otherwise utilize your entry (or entries), regardless of whether or not your entry is a winner, for any purpose deemed fit by KDOT and its advertising agency.
  17. Employees of KDOT and its contest judges, their advertising agencies, their affiliates, representatives, and their families or households of their employees are ineligible to enter/win.
  18. Closing and announcement dates may be changed without notice.
  19. Additions or deletions to these rules may be made at the discretion of KDOT and/or its advertising agency, and may be enacted at any time.
