There were two winners in the second annual Sobriety Rocks Scholarship Song Writing Contest sponsored by the Kansas Department of Transportation (KDOT). The contest is part of an effort by KDOT to encourage Kansas youth to resist peer pressure by abstaining from drinking alcohol until reaching the legal age of 21.
Kansas youth, ages 12-20 years old, submit entries in three categories: best original lyrics, best musical performance, and best song. The winner in each category is awarded a $1,000 scholarship to further their post-secondary education goals. Category winners were:
